The morphological examination of the fetus is complex ultrasound that is performed by a doctor who specializes in prenatal medicine, between the 20 and 23 weeks of pregnancy.
It is a complete exam and is the most important ultrasound scan.
Although many fetal malformations can be diagnosed even in earlier times, morphology remains the test that reassures parents about the health of the unborn child.
During the ultrasound the fetus is exanimated “from head to toe” a variable time is in fact dedicated (depending on the position of the echogenicity, the movements …) for each fetal sector: the head, the brain, the face, the chest, the heart, abdomen, pelvis, spine, long bones, extremities. the position and degree of the placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid, are studied. in our center we also study the resistance of the uterine arteries (predictive factor for the development of hypertension or fetal growth retardation
), and the length of the cervix (predictor for preterm delivery). And of course, some beautiful 3D photos are released.
The morphological ultrasound is performed with a latest generation ultrasound system, G.E. E 8, considered the best device for studying the health of women and children.
