Dr. Antonio Francesco Paiano
Dr. Antonio Francesco Paiano graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1990 with a score of 108/110 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Pisa. In the same year he obtained the qualification for the profession of Surgeon.
From 1988 he began attending the Institute of Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Pisa, directed by Prof. Giovanni B. Cassano, acquiring familiarity with clinical cases of a psychiatric nature, participating in shifts and discussions at the bedside. After graduating, he continued to attend the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Pisa, obtaining the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychiatry in 1996, with a grade of 50/50 cum laude. For about ten years, Dr. Antonio F. Paiano has carried out research on mood and anxiety disorders at the Psychiatric Clinic of Pisa, distinguishing himself for the use and development of standardized data collection and processing methods and participating in the main activities of the group led by prof. Cassano. He has published numerous articles in Italian and foreign specialized magazines.
After serving at the Department of Mental Health “A” in Rivoli (To), since August 2002 he has been working as Medical Director of Psychiatry at the Adult Mental Health Functional Unit of the USL 2 of Lucca. He also carries out freelance activities at the offices of Lucca (Amb. Dr. Luciano Rossi
Dr. Luciano Rossi obtained a scientific high school diploma and then enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pisa, where he graduated in 1992 with a thesis: “Clinical characteristics of the manic episode: comparison between chronic and episodic forms in 62 hospitalized patients”. In the same year he obtained the qualification for the profession of Surgeon.
Since 1990 he began attending the Institute of Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Pisa, directed by Prof. Giovanni B. Cassano, entering the field of assistance to the clinic ward, and at the Day-Hospital and outpatient clinics of the center. For the Prevention and Treatment of Depression, acquiring familiarity with clinical psychiatric cases, participating in shifts and clinical discussions at the bedside. In this way he learned knowledge of semeiotics and psychopathological diagnostics, as well as clinical psychopharmacology and gained experience in approaching the psychiatric patient and in the formation of suitable therapeutic programs.
After graduation, he enrolled in the School of Specialization in Psychiatry of the University of Pisa and obtained a Specialization in Psychiatry of the University of Pisa and obtained a Specialization Diploma in 1996 with a thesis on “Chronic Mania: Demographic, Clinical, Course Characteristics and Therapeutic Implications”. During the specialization course, according to the provisions of Directive 82/76 EEC, Dr. Rossi participated full-time in all medical activities, including guards, in the wards, outpatient clinics and the Day-Hospital of the Clinic Psychiatric of the University of Pisa.
From 1990 to 1996, Dr. Rossi carried out research on Mood and Anxiety Disorders, showing particular interest in the use and development of standardized data collection and processing methods. Initially, he dedicated himself to the evaluation of patients with mood discords, affluent to the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression of the Psychiatric Clinic of Pisa, focusing mainly on research in the field of monitoring the diagnostic aspects, course and pharmacological treatments of the Bipolar patient, with particular reference to reintegration into the social and work environment. He has participated in the main research activities on bipolar mood disorders, focusing in particular on aspects concerning the relationship between acute mania and chronic mania, collaborating with the study group established at the Institute of Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Pisa under the direction of Prof. Giovanni B. Cassano and in close collaboration with industry experts such as Dr. Giulio Perugi and Dr. Laura Musetti. He has published numerous articles in Italian and foreign specialized magazines.
From 2003 to 2008 he worked at the U.F. of Mental Health for Adults – “Piana di Lucca” area with a free-professional assignment as a psychiatrist.
In 2007 he worked at the U.F. Adult Mental Health Livorno area with a fixed-term individual employment contrast as Medica Director of Psychiatry.
From 2007 to 2016 he worked at the U.F. Adult Mental Health USL 3 of Pistoia in the Pistoia Area-District as Medical Director of Psychiatry.
From 1 January 2017 he has been working for the USL company north west of the Tuscan Versilla area U.F. Mental Health Adults as medical director of Psychiatry.
